NO 1 DISTRICT CHARITY GAMES DAY
The City Of Londonderry No.1 District Loyal Orange Lodge held their inaugural
Charity Shield Tournament "Games Day" on Saturday 28th February
2009 in the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall in aid Of Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Fourty Men, Ladies and Boys contested their skills in Bowls, Darts and Pool,
some never had a Bowl, Dart or Cue in there hand before but put up a very
good contest. It wasn't all about winning it was the taking part and raising
funds for Multiple Sclerosis. Mr Terry McNamee - Foyle Branch of MS was
welcomed to the Memorial Hall by Wor Bro Maurice Devenney, District Master
of No.1 District LOL. Maurice passed on our sympathy to Terry on the passing
of his wife the week prior to our Games Day with M.S. Terry thanked everyone
for their help and support in making this day a success and ensures the
members taking part that the money will go to good use in helping the MS
Society.
Wor Bro Maurice Devenney wishes to thank all those who helped to make this
day a huge success and also all the men, ladies and boys who took part.
Thanks also to the Society Social Club for allowing us to hold this event
without their help this wouldn't have taken place.
To date almost £600 has been raised with more money still to come in, the
presentation will take place on Tuesday 7th April 2009 in The Apprentice
Boys Memorial Hall.
